Against the Bears, Jordan Love keeps the Packers’ winning streak alive.

CHI–GO – As it turns out, Aaron Rodgers may not have owned the Chicago Bears alone. It seems that Jordan Love took something away from Soldier Field with him.

The new quarterback for the Green Bay Packers. The Bears’ plight is identical.
Two years after Rodgers famously informed Bears fans, “I still own you,” following another Packers victory over their NFC North opponents, Love made his debut on the same pitch.

Winning the first game of the post-Rodgers era, 38-20, was a strong statement.

”Nothing’s changed,” said runner Aaron Jones. In other words, “We’re still the Packers.”

These Packers are now officially Love’s, whether he has another 15 years in him to match the 30 years of Rodgers and Brett Favre. He was a backup quarterback for the team for three years before finally showing his worth, and for one day he made general manager Brian Gutekunst’s gamble on a first-round quarterback pick in the 2020 draughts appear brilliant.

The Packers had just won their tenth consecutive game against the Bears, but this one felt different.

“There’s a big-time belief in that locker room for Jordan Love,” Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said of Love. The lads, I believe, will come together in support of him. Everyone is thrilled for him. His fans adore him. They hold him in high esteem. He consistently displays an upbeat and enthusiastic demeanour at the office. You probably noticed that today.
It was audible not only outside the Packers’ dressing room, but also within. When Love was given the game ball, the crowd exploded in applause.

Saying, “It’s definitely been a long time coming for me, three years as a backup,” Love emphasised the magnitude of the event. “Just watching, learning, and growing, seeing this team work, it feels good to be out there leading those guys and be out there playing with them finally, and coming out with a dub is just what we wanted.”

On the opening possession, Love made it seem easy with a touchdown drive. He waited for Romeo Doubs to get open on a crossing route and then double-pumped to connect with him for a score from 8 yards out.

It then appeared to be a fight. The score was 10-6 at the break.

Then the offence resembled one run by former coach Matt LaFleur. Jones closed off the drive with a 1-yard touchdown run after catching and running for 51 yards on a sneaky screen pass. Jones’s option route touchdown catch extended the Packers’ lead to 24-6 on a fourth-and-3 play.

After the only major issue for Love, who fumbled a snap, recovered, and connected rookie tight end Luke Musgrave for 37 yards, Doubs scored on a brilliantly placed 4-yard fade to give the quarterback his third touchdown and a 31-14 advantage. When he threw three touchdown passes in Week 1 of the NFL season, he set a record as the first quarterback to do so.

Love completed 15 of 27 passes for 245 yards and no touchdowns or interceptions, with a major help from Jones, who had 127 yards and two touchdowns on 13 catches before a tight hamstring ended his day.

“I told him that I think he’s going to go for 300 with three touchdowns,” left guard Elgton Jenkins recalled, “but he went for [almost] 250 with three touchdowns.” But we’ll gladly accept it.

They were without Christian Watson, arguably their most dangerous receiving option. Despite Jones’ claims that he could have played through the pain in his hamstring, he was inactive for the game.
Love excelled in the money downs, converting seven of eight opportunities for first downs. He was eight for ten on third and fourth down.

Jenkins has said of Bortles, “I feel like he can be a top-five quarterback.” When asked about my teammates, I always say, “I’m always optimistic about my teammates, but I definitely feel like Jordan can be one of those guys.”

On Sunday, Love’s 1-0 record was the only number that mattered.

Even though he hasn’t beaten the Bears like Aaron Rodgers has (24-5), cornerback Jaire Alexander declared, “[The] Pack is back.”

Or maybe it’s still here even after Rodgers joined the New York Jets and nobody noticed.

The day before the game, Love said, “I definitely was visualising just having a win, coming off the pitch after a win; I kept telling myself, ‘I’m going to play great, we’re all going to play great.'” Repeating it to oneself is a common technique for overcoming obstacles. And this morning, I did the same thing, simply picturing us winning and playing beautifully.
