Indian Premier League or IPL

Indian Premier League is a T-20 cricket league that takes place every year in India where a number of teams likely to be 8 teams representing different cities partake in this tournament to win a trophy and make their city proud they representing for. This lavish event usually held in the months of March, April or May. IPL is set up by BCCI which stands for the Board of Control of Cricket in India in 2008. IPL is one of the most participated cricket league in the world and it has settled its rank in 6th position amid all sports leagues in 2014. IPL has so much popularity in it that it even air live on youtube and in many other sites which sounds really thrilled for all Indians. IPL also has a huge brand value of as good as around 6.9 billion US dollars and it also endorses India’s economy by contributing towards its GDP which stands for Gross Domestic Product. According to the survey,  which states that the 2015 IPL session has contributed Rs 11.6 billion to the GDP of the Indian economy. IPL tournament has been held for 12 seasons so far and the last session title winner is Mumbai Indians who have won this trophy for 4 times. As it is a great event for all cricket aficionado who actively come to the stadium in a large quantity to see this event in real and feel the jubilation. All supporters mostly come to endorse their beloved team and cheers for them all the time to make all players agile, zestful and energetic. Though its name is Indian Premier League, even people from other countries also stop by here to support their country player and relish the moment.

There were many teams who actively participated in IPL from the year it is commenced, but many teams got clobber down over time. Now, there are only 8 actively participating teams representing different cities, they are-

Chennai Super Kings

The Chennai Super King is a cricket team that represents and endorses the Chennai under the dominion of Tamil Nadu which takes part in the IPL tournament founded in 2008. Due to their owner involvement in the 2013 IPL batting Case this team hasn’t appeared for two consecutive years in the IPL tournament. They reentered in the tournament in the year 2018 and grabbed the IPL trophy in the same year of their resurgence flaunted every one that the kings are still alive for combat and never forget how to combat. Chennai Super Kings cricket team led by competent Mahendra Singh Dhoni from the year 2008 and won 3 trophies under his captaincy in 2010, 2011, and 2018. The team is coached by three couches Stephen Fleming being the head coach of the team assisted with Michael Hussey being the batting coach and Lakshmipathy Balaji as the bowling coach. This team also has the best win percentage amid all other teams. They have also earned a title for being the most successful franchises in IPL for being in the eight finales out of ten finales. This team wears a very elegant lemon yellow jersey with blue shades upon and their tag line is ‘Whistle Podu’.

Mohit Sharma, Ruturaj Gaikwad are bought in 2019 auction and MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Faf du Plessis, M Vijay, Ravindra Jadeja, Sam Billings, Mitchell Santner, David Willey, Dwayne Bravo, Shane Watson, Lungi Ngidi, Imran Tahir, Kedar Jadhav, Ambati Rayudu, Harbhajan Singh Deepak Chahar, KM Asif, Karn Sharma, Dhruv Shorey, N Jagadeesan, Shardul Thakur, Monu Kumar, Chaitanya Bishnoi are still retained.

Kedhar Jadhav and David Willey (who replaced Kedhar Jadhav in the team due to injury) are might gonna play a crucial in upcoming sessions. Sam Billing who played not up to his mark in the last session by scoring only 108 runs in 10 matches might face few challenges this next upcoming tournament. M.S. Dhoni is likely to continue his tenure as a team captain in the upcoming session too.

But according to the latest news all the 8 franchises of IPL have released a list of players which they are going to release ahead of  2020 auction. CSK has also announced the names of some players which they are going to release. They are- Sam Billings, David Willey, Mohit Sharma, Dhruv Shorey and Chaitanya Bishnoi.

Delhi Capitals

The Delhi Capitals is a cricket team that represents and endorses the Delhi which takes part in the IPL tournament founded in 2008 as Delhi Daredevils. The Delhi Capitals franchise possess by GMR Group and the JSW Group. After the 2018 IPL session, more than 50% of the franchise has been transferred to JSW Group. The changing of the team took place in the year 2018 into Delhi Capitals from Delhi Daredevils. The objective behind changing the name was Delhi being the capital of India so it should be renamed as Delhi Capitals. This is the only team that never got an opportunity to play in Finals. The best batsman who scored more in this team is Virender Sehwag, and Amit Mishra is among the one bowler who took the maximum wickets. Ricky Ponting has been appointed as the head coach of the team and Mohammad Kaif being the assistant coach of the team.

Along with the new name of the team, they have also come up with the new jersey style and new team logo. As Gautam Gambhir retired, Shreyas Iyer has been chosen as the new team captain.   Colin Ingram, Axar Patel, Hanuma Vihari, Sherfane Rutherford, Ishant Sharma, Keemo Paul, Jalaj Saxena, Ankush Bains, Nathu Singh, Bandaru Ayyappa are bought in 2019 auction with Colin Ingram as the highest bid of 64.2 million and Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Prithvi Shaw, Amit Mishra, Avesh Khan, Harshal Patel, Rahut Tewatia, Jayant Yadav, Manjot Kalra, Colin Munro, Chris Morris, Kagiso Rabada, Sandeep Lamichhane, Trent Boult, Shikhar Dhawan are still retained.

Delhi’s incompetence to perform well from the last few years because of their lack in formidable spinners which are not favoring them toward winning. Amit Mishra has played matches and undoubtedly very skillful, didn’t prove him so much impactful in the last few sessions and same with the case with Axar Patel. Sandeep Lamichhane has been proving his skill around the globe, just to see whether he would be able to showcase his skills here too.

King XI Punjab

The King XI Punjab is a cricket team that represents and endorses the Punjab which takes part in the IPL tournament established in 2008. This team’s franchise-owned by Bollywood actress Preity Zinta, Ness Wadia, Mohit Burman, and Karan Paul. The captaincy of this team was given on a skillful hand of Yuvraj Singh till 2010. After that Adam Gilchrist chosen as a captain in 2011 and then again in 2015, the captaincy again changed and given to the Virender Sehwag. But last year the captaincy is given to the Ashwin who is unlikely to continue his captaincy tenure in upcoming sessions.

The Head coach of this team is Mike Hesson along with  Ryan Harris playing the role of bowling coach and Craig McMillan as a fielding coach. The jersey color of the team is red with silver color and has two lions in their logo. The tagline of this team is “We Don’t Buy Superstar, We Make them”.

Varun Chakaravarthy, Sam Curran, Mohammed Shami, Prabhsimran Singh, Nicholas Pooran, Moises Henriques, Hardus Viljoen, Darshan Nalkande, Sarfaraz Khan, Arshdeep Singh, Agnivesh Ayachi, Harpreet Brar, Murugan Ashwin are bought in 2019 auction with highest bid 84 million for Varun Chakaravarthy.

K L Rahul, Chris Gayle, Andrew Tye, Mayank Agarwal, Ankit Rajpoot, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Karun Nair, David Miller, Ravichandran Ashwin, Mandeep Singh are still retained.

Chris Gayle and K.L Rahul are strong players who are likely to carry on as an opening batsman. On the other hand spinner, Ashwin is desperate to prove his bowling skill to give a powerful impact on their team as a benefit.

But according to the latest news all the 8 franchises of IPL have released a list of players which they are going to release ahead of  2020 auction. KXIP has also announced the names of some players which they are going to release. They are- David Miller, Sam Curran, Andrew Tye and Varun Chakravarthy.

Kolkata Knight Riders

The Kolkata Knight Riders is a cricket team that represents and supports the city Kolkata which takes part in the IPL tournament established in 2008 and its franchise owned by Bollywood eminent actor Shah Rukh Khan, female actor Juhi Chawla and her spouse Jay Mehta. This team has gained immense popularity due to its franchise owner around the globe. Speaking of the performance this team has won two times in the year 2012 by thwarting CSK and also in 2014 by conquering trophy over KXIP in finales. Gautam Gambhir has won the title of leading score maker in this team and Sunil Narine as the most wicket-taker. “Korbo, Lorbo, Jeetbo Re” is an official theme song of this team advertise by none other than SRK and purple and gold as an official theme color. It has also placed it ranked second in terms of its brand value.

Jacques Kallis playing the role of head coach with Simon Katich as an assistant coach. At first, the captaincy was in the hand of Sourav Ganguly but later it has given to Gautam Gambhir up to 2017. Now, Dinesh Karthik is holding the captaincy of the team.

The players which are bought in 2019 auction are- Carlos Brathwaite, Lockie Ferguson, Joe Denly, Harry Gurney, Nikhil Naik, Shrikant Mundhe, Prithvi Raj Yarra, Anrich Nortje. Among them Carlos Brathwaite got the highest bid of  51 million.

Dinesh Karthik, Robin Uthappa, Chris Lynn, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Shubhan Gill, Piyush Chawla, Kuldeep Yadav, Prasidh, Shivam Mavi, Nitish Rana, Rinku Singh, Kamlesh Nagarkoti are still retained in the team.

From Prasidh Krishna and Sandeep Warrier, these players fail to give an impactful performance in the last few years whereas Andre Russell and Shubman Gill are still proving their competency with their skills. Kuldeep Yadav has also become a great disappointment for the team for not able to take wickets.

KKR has also announced the names of some players which they are going to release. They are-  Robin Uthappa, Chris Lynn, Piyush Chawla, Joe Denly, Yarra Prithviraj, Nikhik Naik, KC Cariappa, Matthew Kelly, Shrikant Mundhe and Carlos Brathwaite. 

Mumbai Indians 

The Mumbai Indians is a cricket team that represents and supports the city Mumbai, Maharashtra which takes part in the IPL tournament established in 2008 and its franchise owned by India’s biggest company Reliance Industries. Mumbai Indians have become the first team whose brand value has crossed 100 million dollars. In IPL if we go through all the teams we will see that Mumbai Indians is the most successful team. They won the IPL trophy 4 times in the year 2013, 2015, 2017, and 2019. Rohit Sharma is currently holding the responsibility of captaincy. The head coach is Mahela Jayawardene before 2017. Rohit Sharma is the most scorer among all and  Lasith Malinga  being the highest wicket-taker. “Akkha Mumbai Khelega” is the slogan of this team. Blue is the official theme color of the jersey.

Whereas, Barinder Singh Sran, Lasith Malinga, Yuvraj Singh, Anmolpreet Singh, Pankaj Jaswal, Rasikh Dhar are bought in 2019 auction with Barinder Singh Sran as a highest bid of 34.5 million.

Being their remarkable performance over the years it has some best players which have a crucial impact on their victory. Quinton, Suryakumar Yadav, Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard have proved themselves admirably that their presence in the team will give fruitful results. Also, Jasprit Bumrah, Lasith Malinga, Hardik Pandya,  Rahul Chahar showcased their outstanding performance taking wickets and proving themselves as effective players.

They are- Evin Lewis, Adam Milne, Jason Behrendorff, Beuran Hendricks, Ben Cutting, Yuvraj Singh, Mayank Markande (Traded out), Barinder Sran, Rasikh Salam, Pankaj Jaswal, Siddhesh Lad (Traded out), Alzarri Joseph.

Rajasthan Royals

The Rajasthan Royals is a cricket team that represents and supports the Jaipur, Rajasthan which takes part in the IPL tournament established in 2008 and its franchise owned by Manoj Badale. Rajasthan Royals became the first IPL team who won the first season under the captaincy of Shane Warne. This team also got suspended by India’s Supreme Court along with the CSK for illegal activities for two years.  Ajinkya Rahane being the highest scorer and Shane Watson being the maximum wicket-taker. Blue and pink is the theme color of this team. The head coach of the team is Peddy Upton.

Ajinkya Rahane, Krishnappa Gowtham, Sanju Samson, Shreyas Gopal, Aryaman Birla, S. Midhun, Prashant Chopra, Stuart Binny, Rahul Tripathi, Ben Stokes, Steve Smith, Jos Buttler, Jofra Archer, Ish Sodhi, Dhawal Kulkarni, Mahipal Lomror, Jaydev Unadkat, Varun Aaron, Oshane Thomas, Ashton Turner, Liam Livingstone, Shashank Singh, Riyan Parag, Manan Vohra, Shubham Ranjane are the current active players in the team.

Rahane was struggling with the performance in most of the matches. Smith’s performance is still under-appreciation being a captain. Jofra Archer and Shreyas Gopal are the bowlers who are still showing their good performance over the league despite of all the hurdles. Also, it can’t be ignored that the leadership of this team is not up to the mark.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

The RCB is a cricket team that represents and supports the Bangalore which takes part in the IPL tournament established in 2008. It has appeared in finale 3 times but every time they likely to be defeated by other teams. The present captaincy is in the hand of Virat Kohli and the head coach is Simon Katich. They have been playing for the last 12 seasons but still got empty-handed without a trophy. There is always a massive hype for RCB and no doubt also the big following because of one of the player Virat Kohli leading the team especially from the girl’s side and youngsters too. Red, Black, and Golden is the official theme color.

Players bought in 2019 auction are-Shivam Dube, Shimron Hetmyer, Akshdeep Nath, Prayas Barman, Himmat Singh, Gurkeerat Singh Mann, Heinrich Klaasen, Devdutt Padikkal, Milind Kumar with Shivam Dubey as the highest bid of 51 million.

Whereas, Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Parthiv Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal, Washington Sundar, Pawan Negi, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Moeen Ali, Mohammed Siraj, Colin de Grandhomme, Tim Southee, Umesh Yadav, Navdeep Saini, Kulwant Khejroliya, Marcus Stoinis are still retained in the team.

Shimron Hetmyer and Gurukeerat Mann’s their remarkable rearguard partnership was an inkling of what might have been in Royal Challengers Bangalore’s season of deep despair. Andre Russell’s performance is still on its mark like Virat Kohli. Umesh Yadav is not playing for his team from the last two seasons. The absence of Aussie paceman Nathan-Coulter Nile deeply pompous RCB’s chances at the initial stage.

Sunriser Hyderabad

The Sunrises Hyderabad is a cricket team that represents and supports the city Hyderabad and Telengana which takes part in the IPL tournament established in 2012 after the Hyderabad based Decan Charger aborted. The franchise is owned by Kalanithi Maran of the Sun TV Network. Kane Williamson is currently holding the position of the team captain and the head coach is Trevor Bayliss. This team is deemed to have one of the best bowling players. David Runer is the highest scorer in the team and  Bhuvneshwar Kumar proved himself as a leading wicket-taker in the team. This team won the IPL trophy once in 2016. The theme color of this team is red, orange and black.

Players that are still retained in the team are- Basil Thampi, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Deepak Hooda, Manish Pandey, T Natarajan, Ricky Bhui, Sandeep Sharma, Siddharth Kaul, Shreevats Goswami, Khaleel Ahmed, Yusuf Pathan, Billy Stanlake, David Warner, Kane Williamson, Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi, Shakib Al Hasan, Abhishek Sharma, Vijay Shankar, Shahbaz Nadeem.

Whereas,  Jonny Bairstow, Wriddhiman Saha, Martin Guptill are bought in 2019 auction with Jonny Bairstrow as a highest bid of 22 million.

Sunrises Hyderabad proved themselves as one of the strongest teams in the IPL. The reason behind their strength is because of their stiff batting and bowling sides.
